Ah, who I am? Now there's a question. For the purposes of this blog, I'm a first-time mum, living in Surrey UK with The Hubband, the Bean (aka Sebastian) and our two crazy ‘kittens’.
The Bean came along in December 2013 and we’ve been muddling along as best we can ever since. As someone who was pretty terrified at what motherhood would entail, I think we’re doing ok, in fact (sssh!) I’m quite enjoying it. Nature has blessed me with a pretty awesome kid who is easy to read and is quite happy being schlepped from pillar to post as I try to maintain some semblance of my own lifestyle.
Outside of Mumma Bean-ing, I work in Theatreland and am obsessed by it, both putting on and watching shows. Prosecco forms a fairly integral part of my life as you'll no doubt have guessed from my photos, and I have passable addictions to Zumba, self-tan, mascara and Malt-Easter bunnies.
This blog is… well, a little corner dedicated to me and my soapbox, I guess. I'm not a very good writer nor researcher but I just need somewhere to babble. I'm seriously pro-choice on most issues affecting women, but I do get pissy with all the patronising and often ill-informed bullshit the Maternity Militia regurgitate in the name of 'guidelines'. So I want to offer a small haven of common sense here as well.
My inspiration is Mary Poppins. Seriously. She was a tough old boot who didn't let the brats walk over her. I think her motto was fun but firm and above all fair. So that's who I'm trying to channel. I'm also pro-routines, pro-discipline, pro-hugs and snuggles, pro-love and care.
So that’s me, but drop me a line sometime to tell me about you. I’m open to being contacted by companies or their PR reps and promise to give a fair and honest review on any product I’m sent - and to disclose as to whether I’ve been gifted or have bought the product myself. Sorry, but I won’t be swayed by freebies - if your product isn’t up to the job I will say so!
